Made with high-protein Greek yogurt, fresh dill and mint, garlic, lemon, and a touch of honey, this creamy Lemon and Herb Yogurt Sauce is fresh, delicious, and healthy. You can serve it as a salad dressing, enjoy as a dipping sauce, or use it as a marinade!

About this Recipe
If you like Tzatziki - a classic Greek condiment made with yogurt and cucumber - then you'll LOVE this 5-Minute Lemon and Herb Greek Yogurt Sauce. This sauce is a cross between Tzatziki and my favorite lemon vinaigrette. Fresh and vibrant, with a hint of sweetness and a nice lemon kick!
I originally made this recipe to pair with my Halloumi, Chickpea and Roasted Vegetable Orzo Salad, but it could honestly go with anything! Use this sauce as a salad dressing, or enjoy it as a dip or topping for various proteins, vegetables, grains and more! It would also work nicely as a marinade for chicken, beef or fish.
Is this 5-Minute Lemon and Herb Greek Yogurt Sauce healthy?
As a dietitian, I love making healthy recipes with Greek yogurt because it’s creamy, versatile, and adds nutrients like protein, calcium, phosphorus, vitamin B12, and riboflavin to any dish. It works great as a substitute for higher fat ingredients such as sour cream or mayonnaise in most sauce recipes.
Extra virgin olive oil also adds a source of healthy unsaturated fats to this recipe.
Finally, if using this sauce helps you eat more nutritious foods - such as vegetables, lean proteins, and whole grains - then that's a win!
Serving and Storage Tips
Serve this 5-minute Lemon and Herb Greek Yogurt Sauce as a dip or dressing with dishes like my Dill and Feta Meatballs or Halloumi, Chickpea and Roasted Vegetable Orzo Salad.
You can also try serving it as a healthy dip with pita, crackers, or cut up vegetables for snacking.
Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator. It will last for up to 5 days. I do not recommend freezing it.
Ingredient Substitutions
To replace the full-fat Greek yogurt: You can use a low or non-fat Greek yogurt if you prefer, but the texture may be slightly less creamy. You can also use plain regular yogurt, but the consistency will be thinner.
To replace the fresh dill and mint: You can use dried dill and mint, but the flavor may not be exactly the same or as fresh. Remember that approximately 1 tablespoon of fresh herbs = 1 teaspoon dried. You may also wish to use freeze-dried herbs if you have access to them for better flavor.
The replace the minced garlic: If you don’t have fresh minced garlic, you can use garlic powder instead. Again, the flavor may not be as fresh.
